Healing with Marijuana

Marijuana is grown and trafficked all over the world, while most marijuana seized in the US is either grown in the continental 48 states or is smuggled in from Mexico or Canada. Other countries known for smuggling and distributing marijuana in the US are Colombia, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Thailand, South Africa, and Nigeria.

The US is rapidly coming to the determination that outlawing Marijuana is a losing battle After historic elections, which saw four states pass ballot initiatives legalizing nonmedical marijuana, one in five Americans now live in a state where it’s legal to smoke marijuana without a prescription. The Marijuana industry is on track to exceed $20.2 billion in sales by the year 2021.

Healing power of Marijuana

Marijuana’s healing properties are currently being researched and becoming largely accepted in the US. In fact, many people are moving to Colorado and other states that have legalized medical marijuana has people moving there by the droves so they can experience the plant and its medicinal benefits legally. Living in many states all over the US over the past 30 years, I’ve watched the evolution of medical marijuana laws and the rate of changes in attitudes and laws, frankly have shocked me!

For many children and their families, medical marijuana has been proven to be a life savior for seizure disorders and other life-threatening conditions. I have seen families make different decisions, when one parent (usually the mother) had to move to Colorado with a sick child, leaving the rest of the family at home to manage without the complete family. It became especially bad in Minnesota, when we lived there. The state was having so many couples making this difficult decision, which impacted the family farms the most, that the state sped up the process of legalization for these children to get their families back and on the farm where they had lived their entire live. Parents report a dramatic reduction in their child’s seizures often 50 to 90% when their children are given oral extracts rich in cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive cannabis component (low in THC). It has been used to treat pain, muscle spasticity, as appetite stimulants, antiemetics, antispasmodics and has some other analgesic effects. It can be helpful in treating chronic non-cancerous pain as well.

Some conditions known to be helped by Medical Marijuana:

It has been used in Ayurvedic and Indian medicine for at least three thousand years to treat various health conditions, including nausea and wasting syndromes. It is also prescribed for general health and longevity. Interestingly, body builders in India use it as a part of their training regiment to gain muscle mass, promote digestion, and build strength.

The healing power of Marijuana is becoming undeniable. This plant is not as lethal as some once thought it to be. There have been no reported cases of death due to cannabis overdose. Marijuana’s negative reputation is long overdue for a makeover, as this plant has proven to have a lot more health benefits than once thought. There is plenty of research now available proving the positive aspects of Marijuana, but government regulation and criminalization continues! If you are like me and believe everyone who requires this powerful medicine should have access to it, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!
